General Physicians

Primary tabs

General Physicians are highly trained specialists who provide a range of non-surgical health care to adult patients. They care for difficult, serious or unusual medical problems.  Much of their work takes place with hospitalised patients and most general physicians also see patients in their consulting rooms.  General physicians are trained to carry out a variety of medical procedures for the diagnosis and management of patients with severe and complex illnesses.

General physician services are provided by qualified physicians based at the Hamilton Medical Group.  Physicians are based at the clinic and provide inpatient care at WDHS.

Patients should contact the Hamilton Medical Group to make an appointment.  You should bring with you your letter of referral (if your doctor has not sent it directly) and any other relevant documentation.  New patients are asked to bring in a urine sample.

A Respiratory and Sleep Physician is based at Manse Medical in Hamilton.  Manse Medical and Western District Health Service jointly operate the Hamilton Sleep Disorders Centre. See the Manse Medical page for more information.
