What is Speech Pathology?

Services are provided to clients of all ages with communication and swallowing disorders. Services are provided to inpatients and outpatients of the Western District Health Service and to individuals or groups in a range of locations including the

  • Speech Pathology Department
  • Wards
  • Community Rehabilitation Service
  • Schools
  • Kindergartens
  • Homes
  • Hostels


A wide range of communication and related disorders are managed by the Speech Pathology Department and include problems with:

  • Articulation
  • Language development
  • Voice production
  • Fluency / stuttering
  • Communication disorders of neurological origin
  • Learning and literacy
  • Developmental delay
  • Hearing
