What is Podiatry?
Podiatry is the prevention, diagnosis treatment and rehabilitation of medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs.
The podiatry service aims to improve mobility and enhance the independence of individuals by prevention and management of foot problems. Our primary focus is to provide treatment and education to clients who are in highest needs-determined by various factors including medical conditions such as arthritis, diabetes; disability, foot health conditions.
Foot Health conditions we treat are:
- Corns/callouses
- Heel pain, heel spur
- Ingrown toenails, and other nail disorders
- Infections: tinea, fungal nails, plantar warts/papilloma
- Diabetic foot assessment
- Children developmental disorders include in-toeing problems, knee pain and abnormal knee position (knock knee), flat feet, digital deformities (curly toes), clubfoot.
- Flat feet
- Foot sports injuries
- Foot odours
- Ulcers/wounds in the foot
Appointments need to be made with reception staff, no referral is required.
We request that you notify us of any need to cancel your appointment.
Additional charge will be applied for foot orthoses, insoles
Location:
Hamilton House, Allied Health Centre, Tyres Street, Hamilton.
Weekly visits to Penshurst and Coleraine District Health Services
Also visiting monthly Residential Aged Care Centres, The Birches, The Grange, and Eventide Lutheran Homes.
Other regional services: Balmoral and Harrow Bush Nursing Centres and Macarthur Community Health Centre.
