Go for your life
Challenging the Stereotypes Project
Going for our lives is a project funded through the Department of Human Services Victoria (DHS) and the Department of Victorian Communities (DVC) in an effort to address the growing disparity between health and healthy behaviours.
A joint submission between the Western District Health Service, Glenelg and Southern Grampians Primary Care Partnership and Shire of Southern Grampians has been successful in gaining a grant to promote healthy lifestyles within our local community.
Challenging the Stereotypes will pilot programs in a number of workplaces focusing on increasing physical activity and increasing healthy eating using a variety of approaches which are sustainable past the end of the project and encourage workers and their families to maintain ongoing healthy lifestyles into the future.
Fran Patterson has been appointed as Project Officer and will be working with workplaces and the community to implement the project plan.
A Reference Group has been formed to oversee project planning and implementation. The reference group is made of representatives from the project partners WDHS, SSG and GSGPCP, community members and a variety of workplaces.
