New Surgery Equipment thanks to North Hamilton Ladies Auxiliary

New ‘fine ear surgery’ instruments will be used for the first time this week by Western District Health Service theatre staff, thanks to the generosity of the North Hamilton Ladies’ Auxiliary.The Auxiliary donated $2,800 to the hospital in April with the funds going towards the purchase of the much needed ear, nose and throat equipment, and a pulse oximeter for the hospital’s Midwifery Unit.....more>

Throughout the event people were taken on guided tours of the facility by Grange Manager, Peter Francis and staff. Celebrating International Midwives Day at Western District Health Service

May 5 was a special day for the midwives at Western District Health Service, giving them an opportunity to celebrate and promote their profession. And celebrate they did with an afternoon tea shared at work, followed by a “midwives night out” for dinner at Gilly’s restaurant. All in tune with the aim of the day, which is to celebrate midwifery and bring awareness of the importance of midwives’ work to as many people as possible...more>


WDHS “virtually” closing the distance gap for Patients

Western District Health Service is giving patients greater access to specialised medical treatment and assessment through the use of technology.  Functions such as video conferencing, image transfer and clinical monitoring can be used to link WDHS to major metro hospitals such as Royal Children’s Hospital and Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. This Virtual Services technology at WDHS is being used to deliver support and advice to local medical specialists and nurses... more>
