WDHS at Sheepvention - Virtually
23 July 2008
The technology which has brought families together, is key to remote consultations and won accolades for Western District Health Service will be on display at the WDHS site at Sheepvention next week.
The Virtual Services technology will allow Sheepvention patrons to tour a supermarket, catch up with WDHS volunteers, hear about the Health Service’s water wise program, visit The Grange and learn a bit about resuscitation.
The Virtual Visiting technology will be on display at the WDHS site at Sheepvention. At 10am on Tuesday, a virtual resuscitation course will be conducted at the site, with Nurse Educator Chris McGennisken.
Visitors to the site will be able to watch Chris conduct a short workshop “Saving Lives – Any attempt at resuscitation is better than no attempt”, and interact with her through the Virtual Visiting technology.
On Monday at 2pm, dietitian Vinotha Vijayapalan will use internet technology to promote fruit and vegetables to children on our big screen, and on Tuesday at 11am she will conduct a virtual supermarket tour to demonstrate how to shop for healthy food.
There are other activities at the WDHS site.
Are you at risk of Diabetes? Take a free diabetes risk test to find out. What do you think about Public Transport in the region? Tell our Community Transport Manager your views. Thinking about becoming a volunteer? Ask our Volunteer Coordinator about the options. Can’t remember the last time you had a good night’s sleep? Talk to the staff from the Sleep Centre.
On Monday there is a colouring competition for the children and the usual WDHS quiz over both days.
ABOVE: Virtual Visiting provides the opportunity for WDHS aged care facility residents to regularly talk and see family members who live away.
