Guest speaker at Hamilton stroke support group
8 August 2007

Stroke survivor John Norton and his wife Glenda from Bendigo were guests of the Western District Health Service stroke support group on Tuesday, July 31.
John is one of the founding members of the Bendigo stroke support group which have more than 40 members.
John was working as a human resources manager in1996 when he suffered a sudden and life-changing stroke.
He talks about the different stages he went through during the acute and recovery phase of the stroke, including the physical and emotional hurdles he encountered.
John and fellow group members are now driving a national program on stroke recovery.
The stroke support group in Hamilton is about survivors and their carers getting together to encourage socialisation and education. Inviting a guest speaker was a way to encourage new people to attend the group for afternoon tea and an opportunity to listen and share with others.
Further inquiries about the group can be made by contacting Sue Morrissey on 0419 872 299
