Nurses complete Graduate Program
17 January 2009
Deputy Director of Nursing Bronwyn Roberts and Nurse Education Co-ordinator Chris McGennisken presented the Graduates with their certificates. The graduate year enables the new nurses to consolidate the knowledge and skills learned at University in the workplace in a supported environment. The program involves orientation, achievement of clinical competencies, ongoing mentoring, support and feedback, performance appraisal and a study program.
Several of the graduates have accepted positions at Western District Health Service while others will be moving on to other facilities. Congratulations to all Graduates!
The preceptors based within Western District Health Service were also thanked and congratulated at the graduation ceremony. They have made a significant contribution to the continuing learning and development of not only the graduate nurses, but students undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate courses and work experience.
Our preceptors provide practical guidance and advice in the clinical setting and play a pivotal role in training and supporting our future workforce. Undergraduate Co-ordinator Mavis Wilkinson and Education Manager Deb Smith presented each department with a certificate of appreciation.
