Hospital Sunday Appeal reaches new heights

A new videocolonoscope for the Hamilton Base Hospital Theatre has been purchased, thanks to the generosity of the Western District Health Service community.

The final tally for the annual Hospital Sunday Appeal is more than $40,000, which is a tremendous result for the Health Service, according to Chief Executive Officer, Jim Fletcher.

Just two years ago the Appeal raised $15,000, so the innovations brought in over the past two years to involve more volunteer collectors and expand the areas which are visited, has contributed to this great result, he said.

“The success of the Hospital Sunday Appeal has enabled the Health Service to purchase state-of-the-art equipment for our operating theatre, and maintain our reputation as an innovative leader in rural Healthcare.

“The Appeal also provided members of our community to direct funds to other services delivered through WDHS if they chose,” he said

Mr Fletcher congratulated all volunteers for their great support, the WDHS Development Council and the Community Liaison Department for their coordination of the Appeal, and the initiatives which have contributed to the final result.
