Biggest Losers welcome new ECG machines
4 January 2008
Western District Health Service welcomed the two new ECG machines which have been purchased through the fundraising efforts of the Biggest Loser participants.
The 16 participants raised $33,500 which has enabled WDHS to purchase two ECG machines and trolleys.
Community Liaison Manager Deb Howcroft who raised over $3000 as a participant in the 10-week slogfest, was extremely pleased to see the machines arrive at Hamilton Base Hospital, as was fellow Biggest Loser participant Elizabeth Munro, the HBH Theatre Manager.
They invited Vitality’s Clinton Thomas and the highest fundraiser Vicki Whyte to see what their fundraising efforts were for. And seeing as Deb constantly asked if her heart rate was “supposed to be that high”, they took the opportunity to have a trial run.
Vicki raised $4,412 through donations and sponsorships, which was an outstanding effort, Deb Howcroft said.
She also praised the efforts of the team mentors, as well as Clinton Thomas and the team at Vitality, who all gave their time and enthusiasm generously.
