Hands were raised for The Grange

The Grange Redevelopment fundraising campaign was launched with great momentum last Saturday, raising $34,000 from The Grange Charity Auction.
Bidders at the auction certainly took the theme to heart, and “Put their hand up for the Grange” to reach the final tally.
The Charity Auction at Murray Hall launched the campaign to raise $2.5 million for the expansion of facilities at The Grange Residential Care Service.
Western District Health Service Chief Executive Officer Jim Fletcher welcomed guests to the auction, and thanked them for their support.
He said the Health Service had raised $3.5million for the first building program for The Grange, and he was confident the community would once again rise to the challenge of raising $2.5 million for the next stage.
A moving visual presentation of life at The Grange, which was compiled by Grange Unit Manager Peter Francis and Grange Nurse Meg McLarty, reminded auction guests of the purpose of the evening.
There were more than 100 items which had been donated and were offered for auction, with the range of items ensuring everyone had the chance to go home with something, according to Community Liaison Manager Deb Howcroft.
“Botanica World Discoveries Garden Tours donated by Judy Vanrenan brought the top price of $2800, while a magnificent sofa table made by Andrew Alstin was bought for $2000,” she said.
Auctioneers Derek Morse and Bernie Grant were in charge of the Live Auction of major products and services, which was combined with a Silent Auction and the popular Balloon Auction provided surprise mystery items.
