Calling all Women - Say "NO" to Fad Diets

Ditch fad diets and embrace a positive, healthy relationship with food– that’s the message from Western District Health Services Dietitians, as they extend their invitation to the ‘Diet No More’ celebration dinner, to be held on June 17.

“The Nutrition and Dietetics Department have been successful in gaining funding from Whole Woman to host the event”, said Jessica Nobes, Dietitian from Western District Health Service.  “In Australia, the multi-million dollar diet industry coaxes women to adopt radical and unproven weight loss programs that promise quick and often unrealistic results” Ms Nobes said, “But the reality is that diets don’t work in the long term and can lead to low self esteem and developing an unhealthy relationship with food.”

"The ‘Diet No More’ celebratory dinner is an exciting opportunity for women living in the Southern Grampians Shire to learn how to reject the dieting cycle for good and find new ways to begin a guiltless, yet mindful approach to eating" Ms Nobes said. Guest speakers Kylie Brown, Accredited Practising Dietitian and Angela O’Brien, Counsellor from Western District Health Service will present on the reasons why fad diets fail in the long term, health and vitality in all shapes and sizes and provide insight into a non-dieting approach to weight management that deals with the psychological and behavioural aspects of food related behaviours. There will also be some fun entertainment and a lucky door prize.

Entry fee of $15 includes a two course meal, tea/ coffee, guest speakers and entertainment on the night.

Tickets can be purchased from Allied Health Reception in Tyers St. Booking is essential as numbers are limited.
