New Survey to Investigate Food Access

16 August 2010

How do you get to the shops? Are fresh fruit and vegetables easily available for you?  Residents in the Southern Grampians Shire are invited to take part in a survey about access to food. The survey is an initiative of the Western District Health Service and the Southern Grampians & Glenelg Primary Care Partnership Food Security working group.

“We want to find out how people get enough food to feed themselves and their families” said Sophie Roberts, Dietitian from Western District Health Service. “The results will be used to help guide future programs to make it easier for everyone in the Shire to access healthy, affordable food” she said. The survey is completely anonymous and should only take about 10 minutes to complete. People who complete the survey are able to enter the prize draw to win one of two Peaches Fruit Market vouchers, valued at $100. Surveys are available to pick up and return to Hamilton House Allied Health Reception in Tyres St, Balmoral Bush Nursing Centre and MJ’s Roadhouse in Glenthompson.

To take part in the survey or for more information please contact Sophie Roberts or Jessica Nobes, WDHS Dietitians on 55518515.
