Western District Health Service is the main referral centre for the Southern Grampians/Glenelg area and has close affiliations with Greater Health, Flinders, and Deakin Universities. We are a fully accredited multi-campus Health Service, which includes Hamilton Base Hospital, Penshurst District Health Service, Coleraine District Health Service and Frances Hewett Community Centre. Services are also provided to other neighbouring Health Agencies at Casterton, Portland and Heywood. The main Hamilton Base Hospital campus has 75 acute beds, 90 aged care beds and a range of community based services, with 7000 admissions and 220 deliveries per year. The hospital performs 3000 surgical procedures per year and has ICU and HDU facilities. In addition to the above there are four Physicians, three Surgeons and a Consultant Anaesthetist resident in Hamilton. Visiting services include orthopaedics, ENT, ophthalmology, urology, dermatology, endocrinology and neurology. Western District Health Service Physiotherapy Department (Hamilton, Victoria) invites applications from physiotherapy students for two student bursaries
Applicants must be Australian citizens or have permanent residency. The bursary will be for the value of $3300 per annum for the duration of the recipient’s studies in accordance with WDHS Physiotherapy Bursary Terms and Conditions (*see below) and will require the recipient to work within the WDHS Physiotherapy Department for two years immediately upon qualifying. Ongoing employment after 2 years will be subject to operational availability.
