How you can support Western District Health Service to ensure the best in patient care?

Western District Health Service is reliant on funding from donations, bequests and fundraising, in order to upgrade its equipment. The quality of our Health Service infrastructure is due to the dedication of volunteers and benefactors who contribute so that others can experience the best possible healthcare.

Through charitable giving, supporters of WDHS can play a role in our efforts to build a larger and stronger Health Service, to meet the needs of our community.

Donations

Many Donors choose to support WDHS by making cash gifts. This method of giving can have immediate impact. All donations over $2 to Western District Health Service are tax-deductible. All donations are acknowledged by letter and a receipt, and those of $20 and over are listed in the Annual Report. There may be other suitable ways to acknowledge your generosity, which we will be pleased to discuss with you.

Unrestricted gifts are especially valuable because they provide the flexibility to move quickly to purchase new equipment to improve the delivery of healthcare, or upgrade medical equipment which has become obsolete or just worn out.

Restricted gifts benefit specific areas of the Health Service of the donor's choosing. Funds may be designated for any of the WDHS campuses, or areas of healthcare that may be of personal interest. We will be pleased to honour your request that your donation be applied to a particular area of the Health Service.

Bequests

Many people, having made provision for their families, decide to support their favourite charities by leaving a bequest in their Will. Donors can leave a percentage of their estate or a fixed dollar amount. Another option is to name Western District Health Service as a residuary beneficiary, leaving the Health Service what remains after specific bequests to loved ones are paid. Bequests may provide an unrestricted gift to be used where most needed, or be designated for a specific purpose.

Memorial Donations

An alternative to flowers at a funeral of a loved one is a memorial donation.

Family and friends can make a donation in lieu of flowers at the funerals of those close to them. Envelopes for this purpose are available from the Community Liaison Department. Pease call 5551 8540 to arrange for these envelopes to be delivered prior to the funeral.
