YouthBiz is a:

  • Safe and hassle-free recreational space for any young people aged 10-25.
  • Facilities include: Large screen television, X-Box, Pool Table, Internet and Computer access, DVD, Stereo, Study Area, and Outside Courtyard.
  • First point of contact for young people to a range of health, welfare and service information and referral advice.

FReeZA

A Victorian Government initiative to provide drug and alcohol free entertainment option for young people.

  • Committee of ten young people meets weekly to plan and implement the program in the Southern Grampians.
  • 7 events held annually
  • Opportunities for young local bands to showcase their abilities in front of their peers

10MMM

Collaboration between WDHS, RMIT Hamilton, SGAE, Mixx FM.

  • A multi-media program for young people responsible for: quarterly Purple Couch magazine, radio advertisements, interactive website 10mmm.com, digital storytelling workshops
  • Committee of ten young people meet fortnightly to plan and implement the program and its various activities

Our Playce

Collaboration between WDHS and Warrnambool, Moyne, Glenelg, and Corangamite Shires

  • Initially a 4 day Youth Summit of ten young people from each of the five shires meet to discuss their communities and learn leadership and team building skills.
  • Young people devise a community-building project at the Summit, then on their return home, work on implementing the project in their community.

 

Other Activities

Various activities run over school holiday period. Previous activities have included: Horse riding, Rock Climbing, Ten-pin bowling, trip to Australian Open tennis, movie afternoon, and pool competitions.

YouthBiz annually participates in National Youth Week. Previous activities have included: mural painting, short story competition, Small Day Out, and Southern Expression Youth Arts Festival.
